Community Based Work
I have extensive experience of developing and leading projects working with a range of community groups.
I have a commitment to good practice and am passionate about working with individuals and communities to create unusual and exciting work which enables them to have a voice. I work to achieve full community participation and engagement as I want to create an exciting and proactive experience for participants.
Examples of work:
Making issue based films with groups of young people. One of these 'Road 2 Darkness' winning the Ken Loach film award in 2002
National and international work on many digitally based projects for Save the Children, working with young Gypsy Travellers. Partners in these projects have included the National Portrait Gallery and National Musum of Scotland.
Other examples of socially engaged practice - creating work for the Rule of Thumb Programme at the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow with women who had experienced domestic abuse and working with the local community on a photography project, creating a touring installation for the Poverty Alliance
In 2009 I was appointed as Lead Practitioner in Moving Image Education with Scottish Screen
